LATEST MESSAGE - SUNDAY, MAY 9
“SEEK PEACE AND PURSUE IT” (1 Peter 3:8-12) – We have been “called” to inherit a blessing from God! To “seek peace and pursue it” is to experience God’s pleasure. And thankfully, if you and I will seek peace and pursue it with God, then we can clear out any nefarious clutter as we seek peace and pursue it with others.
MESSAGE - SUNDAY, MAY 2
“IN GOD WE ENTRUST OUR TRUST” (1 Peter 2:21-25) – The way we “entrust” our trust to God is by the choice we make to follow the example of Jesus. In offering this “call,” the Apostle Peter invites us not only to place our “trust” in God, but to “entrust” our trust to God because Jesus “suffered” for us, leaving us an “example,” that we should “follow” in his steps.
MESSAGE - SUNDAY, APRIL 25
“THE LEGACY OF LIVING STONES” (1 Peter 2:4-10) – Jesus Christ is the “living stone” upon which you and I can build a meaningful life and legacy of faith. And today, we live with a wonderful promise: If we trust in the Lord, then we will never be put to shame.
MESSAGE - SUNDAY, APRIL 18
“HOLINESS IS MORE THAN SKIN DEEP” (1 Peter 1:13—2:3) – “Holiness” is an inside-out experience. “Holiness” is more than just dressing ourselves up with a righteous appearance; instead, “holiness” is a revelation from God that enables us to reflect the likeness of God in all we say and do as followers of Jesus Christ.
MESSAGE - SUNDAY, APRIL 11
“THE WAY TO COPE IS HOPE” (1 Peter 1:3-9) – Because of God’s “great mercy,” you and I have now been given “new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” The “new birth” of salvation in Jesus Christ reminds us again today that our safety, security, and identity are found in the “living hope” we can now know and experience together in Jesus Christ.
MESSAGE - SUNDAY, APRIL 4
“Peace be with you!” (John 20:19-22) – These words of Jesus renew our faith and restore our joy! Since Jesus has now overcome the world of sin and death by his resurrection from the dead, you and I can now be inhabited by the “peace” of God that transcends all understanding and that promises to guard our hearts and our minds in Christ Jesus!
MESSAGE - SUNDAY, MARCH 28
“Love One Another” (1 John 4:7-12) – If we asked Jesus, “What’s love got to do with it?,” then he would respond by saying, “Everything.” The choice you and I make to pattern our lives after the selfless, sacrificial “love” that God has revealed to us in Jesus Christ provides the clearest indication to others that we “know” God, and that we actually inhabit “life” with God.
MESSAGE - SUNDAY, MARCH 21
FIFTH SUNDAY OF LENT
“Forgive One Another” (Matthew 6:14-15) – We learn from Jesus that forgiveness is a personal issue, i.e., forgiveness is always a personal decision. For just as God has forgiven us our sins, it is up to us to forgive those who sin against us.
MESSAGE - SUNDAY, MARCH 14
FOURTH SUNDAY OF LENT
“Admonish One Another” (Ephesians 4:1-3; Colossians 3:15-17) – To “urge” and “admonish” are vital components of healthy church life. And the choice we make to “urge” and “admonish” one another to “walk” in a manner worthy of our calling reminds all of us that our lives are a gift from God.
MESSAGE - SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 28
SECOND SUNDAY OF LENT
“Stewards of God’s Grace” (1 Peter 4:10-11) – God is the great Giver! And now, God has given “gifts” to us so that we might serve others as faithful stewards of God’s grace.
MESSAGE - SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 21
“Ash Wednesday” on the 1st Sunday of Lent
“REJOICING COMES IN THE MORNING” (Psalm 30:1-12) – The “signs” of God’s grace remind us of all our blessings. And, above all, the “signs” of God’s grace orient us as we call out for God’s mercy because while “weeping may stay for the night,” we can trust that with God’s help “rejoicing comes in the morning.”
MESSAGE - SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 14
“IT IS GOOD FOR US TO BE HERE” (Mark 9:2-7) – To be in the presence of Jesus is to be in no better place. The “Transfiguration of Jesus” was not only a mountaintop experience for Peter, James, and John, but remains a mountaintop experience for us today.
MESSAGE - SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 7
“GREET ONE ANOTHER” (2 Corinthians 5:17-21) – To “greet” another person is to express kindness, show respect, and extend honor. And to “greet” others in the name of Christ is to participate as an “ambassador” for Christ as we share in God’s ministry of reconciliation.
MESSAGE - SUNDAY, JANUARY 31
“VALUE OTHERS ABOVE YOURSELVES” (Philippians 2:1-11) – Jesus offers us an alternative to living in a “me first” kind of world. To value others above ourselves is, in effect, to confess all that we are and all that we have are explained by the selfless, sacrificial actions of God’s love that are now being incarnated into the world of our daily experiences.
MESSAGE - SUNDAY, JANUARY 24
"BEAR WITH ONE ANOTHER” (Colossians 3:12-14) – Most of us know the experience of dealing with “difficult” people, and this can certainly be a difficult experience. But thankfully, if we will “clothe” ourselves with the virtues of Jesus Christ, then we will learn how to “bear” with each other and forgive each other.
MESSAGE - SUNDAY, JANUARY 17
“ENCOURAGE ONE ANOTHER” (Ephesians 4:29—5:2) – As followers of Christ, we must not only believe in the creed of “encouragement,” but we must live into the blessings of all that the creed of “encouragement” delivers. So let us follow God’s example and walk in the way of love!
MESSAGE - SUNDAY, JANUARY 10
"How Happiness Happens" (Mark 8:34-37) -- Do you want to be happy and live happier right now? Well, Jesus provides the recipe for happiness when he invites us to "deny" ourselves, take up our cross, and follow him.
MESSAGE - SUNDAY, JANUARY 3
"Lord, Save Me!" (Psalm 116) -- This a prayer we all need to pray again today! The fears, uncertainties, and mysteries of life test our faith. But, if we keep our eyes on the Lord, then he will keep us from sinking!
MESSAGE - SUNDAY, DECEMBER 20
“Inexhaustible Love” (1 Peter 4:7-11) – How does God love me? It’s a question many of us have had. Thankfully, the Christmas Story incarnates this vital truth: God’s love never fails; God’s love is, in fact, “inexhaustible.”
MID-WEEK WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT - WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 16
"The Spirit of Hospitality -- 2" (1 Peter 4:9) -- As an action of love, "hospitality" is more than just sharing what we have with others; it is, instead, the sharing of who we are for others.
