stories and testimonies

From carol henry

It's all about the desert.. It started when I was 15... no Church family in my life... no connection to God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit... I was so thirsty... and then at 15 I found Church, God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit through a youth group and then a boyfriend who would later become my husband. My thirst was quenched and I was baptized at 16.

Fast forward to 1980, my family and I are very active in a church in Plano by then but there are problems in the church... division... the next thing that happens is I want out... the Devil himself chases me away from the church and I take my family with me... we are back in the desert for 8 years and when I think about that time, it still makes me SAD 😔Life moves on... Lori, our oldest, gets married and she and Tim have our first grand, Robyn. Lori comes to me and says all of us need to be in church... I want to raise my children in church... so we shop until we find First Christian Church in Allen where we have been since April 24, 1988.

It's hard to explain how wonderful it is when you finally find "HOME"... a church home... a family like no other... your real family.

Your family where God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit dwell in everyone and everything. You can feel it even when times are difficult as well as happy... Kind of like a marriage... "in the sickness and in health til death do us part" This is home. Right here, right now with the Lord and my family... my real family and Jesus right by my side... "Nothing better than family" especially this one.

Celebrating 25 years of Faith, Family and Friends at FCC Allen

For the past 25 years, being part of this church has been one of the greatest blessings of my life. When I first walked through the doors, I was searching for a place where faith could grow and relationships could flourish. What I found was a spiritual home—a community that truly lives out the love of Christ.

This church has taught me that faith is not just something we practice on Sundays; it’s a daily walk with God. Through every season—times of joy and times of challenge—my faith has been strengthened by the Word, by prayer, and by the encouragement of this congregation.

Family has always been at the heart of our ministry. Here, I’ve seen families restored, marriages strengthened, and children raised to know and love the Lord. Departed family members have been celebrated and lovingly remembered. My own family has been blessed beyond measure by the support and guidance we’ve received.

And then there are the friendships—lifelong bonds formed in small groups, service projects, and countless moments of fellowship. These friends have become like brothers and sisters to me, walking alongside me in faith and life.

After 25 years, I can say with confidence that this church is more than a building; it’s a living testimony of God’s grace. I am grateful for every sermon, every prayer, and every person who has helped me grow closer to Christ. My prayer is that others will find the same hope, love, and community that I have found here.

To God be the Glory!

“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” — Acts 2:42
